Telescope
The telescope of Arago is a Cassegrain design with two on-axis mirrors to maintain polarisation fidelity. The primary mirror has a diameter of 1 meter with an F/1.4 aperture. Its coating has been chosen to fullfil the scientific requirements in both the UV and Visible wavelength domain.
The main challenges for a UV+Visible telescope are: optical wavefront quality (phase), optical coating quality (amplitude), stability of both phase and amplitude, temporal stability, and control of all forms of contamination.
